Repairing Intake Elbow... TAPE?

well i had a friend (mechanic) look at my car and first thing he said, u gotta vacum leak and he told me that would always cause sputtering... but the edge around my intake elbow is all tore up, and the rubber is kinda dried up, uve should have the picture now, what can i do to repair that? cause it'll be a while until i get a 1LE elbow, so what can i do until the mean time?

If the elbow is really torn up, the tape wont last as long if it were a little hole. I have a stock elbow that I replaced with a 1LE and it has a small cut on the bottom. It might have less damage than yours and your welcome to it if you want.

jsut get the elbow ASAP and tape it up. Be careful with the tape though. When I first got my car, I was being curious, took off the intake sytem and found a piece of duct tape stuck on the throttle body right next to the blades good thing I looked when I did

temp fix

you can cut the end off where its ripped and then notch the ribs so you can put the clamps back on. i did this with mine while wating for my 1le elbow.

If you keep the take on too long it will make a sticky mess. When i bought my car the intake elbow was tapped, i just got my 1le...the throttle body close to the blades was all gummy from the tape adhesive .

Just push it farther on and clamp it over the tear.
