Removing rear spring cushion?

Im going to get Hal shocks for the front and plan on lowering the car a little in front with their adjustability. Instead of buying a new set of springs for the back I was wondering if anyone removed the spring cushion in the back or atleast thinned it down?

Any idea on how much the car would drop if it was removed?

Thanks

Some guys have done that and replaced it with rubber hose split lengthwise and placed on the top coil to insulate the spring from the chassis.
