For those of you who have or know, i was wondering how much of a PITA it is to pull the intake manifold off? what all has to be removed other than the obvious...fuel rail, injectors, throttle body? Also will i need to replace a seal? thanks guys

 

I would also like to know what exactly needs to be done. Mine badly needs to be cleaned.

 

Look on my Tech Page for the cam removal "How To". It shows how to remove the intake. It's not that hard. You will need new gaskets. The fuel rail is a little different on a 1993.

 

do you have to remove the throtle body? I havnt done an LT1 yet but i wouldnt think so.

 

Dont have to remove throttle body to remove intake.

 

Unless you have done the throttle body bypass, you have to remove some coolant hoses from the TB. After that, removing the TB is just a good idea so you don't mess it up, IMO.

 

its reallly not that big of a deal....it is very intimidating at first, but as long as you have the simple tools you will be fine....

 

Just make sure you seal the front and back gaskets good. It shows you on Shoebox's website. I have pulled mine off about 7 or 8 times.. for different reasons and out of those about 3 have leaked. youd think id get the hang of it.. I used ultra grey once and it leaked aswell as ultra black, now I use ultra copper and havent have a problem. Make sure you load it up and make an even bead accross both seals and in the corners of the head and block.

 

I used some red high temp gasket seal and did the markings like shoebox describes on his site. No problems yet.
