Removing high voltage part of opti-

I know that you can just use a regular opti in conjuntion with a ltcc or delteq system, but i would like to remove the high voltage part from the opti since it is not needed.

Does anyone have info on what exactly needs to be removed before i start performing surgery?

Do you mean the cap and rotor section?

should just be a simple matter of plugging the cap parts and removing the rotor, the rotor is only two bolts/screws.

there is that other cap you can use too

there were some guys that were going to make an aluminum cap to replace the opti cap.... I don't have the details, however. That was a while ago.

The high RPM guys usually modify the rotor to prevent it from shattering. That's really all.

Just take the rotor out. Nothing else. Mines been that way for 3-1/2 years.

Opti-Cap

If I could get some confirmed interest out there for an Opti-Spark cap to replace the cap and rotor, I could definitely have some made. I have all the relevent CAD data already...

I am assuming billet anodized aluminum?

I'd be intresed in one. I was also thinking about replacing the internals with 2 flying magnet sensors for use with an aftermarket pcm. This way you can have a single bolt on self contained sensor assembly instead of having a crank trigger attached to the balencer and have to create some type of cam sync sensor setup. One sensor "ring" would have one magnet for the cam sync. The other would be the crank trigger but since it's driven off the cam gear, you would need 8 magnets (instead of 4 like the typical crank trigger. Maybe a rotor can be fabbed that will hold a msd relector (from their distributor) and magnet for the cam sync. Then fab the cover to hold the reluctor pickup and cam sync pickup but also make them ajustable so you change the angle on them. Just a few thoughts.

I had my Cap and Rotor replaced on my opti. I didn't go any good since the Optical side was shot. You might wanna check that out before you do anything.
