removing door speakers
Re: removing door speakers
Ya know posting a simple question doesnt require any jack off comments. There is more to removing a door panel than a few screws. I believe you need to pop off the power window and lock cover for starters and remove the wires dont you? Its also held in by retaining clips, was wondering any special way of taking it off without damaging those. Just because you can put gas in your car by yourself doesnt make you a mechanic smart-*ss.

Carlos got
by a newbie.....
One thing I've learned "Carlos" is that newbie doesn't mean dumb... (atleast not all the time)
Anyway, I have a 94 Z so It may and probably will be a bit different. But on my car, there is not "star head" I believe the correct term is TORX head screws. There are standard Phillips head screws. One in the power window/door lock section, two hidden in the arm rest grip and one that goes at an upward angle on the bottom of the arm rest grip. I believe that is all of them. Then at that point the panel will lift off. O, I forgot one, you need to take off that small triangular piece of plastic by the mirrors. You won't be able to lift it with that on. Like I said I have a Z so it may be different.
FWIW, Good Luck... And you may get a better response or atleast a more definite in the Custom Car Audio & Electronics Forum.

another thing to add, when ready to remove the panel don't pull straight back on the panel. The panel needs to be lifted up to remove. there are several plastic pieces on the bottom that can break if you pull it out. If you have a seperate woofer and tweeter, the tweeter and wiring connection are attached to the door panel and will need to be unpluged.
I changed the speaker in my 97 in about 30 minutes. It is pretty easy to do.

Use a star head screwdriver to remove the door panels.
