Remove bumper cover to pull engine from top?

Getting ready to pull the LT1 out from the top of my '95 Z28. I have the TPIS Happy Hooker, but my engine hoist hits my front bumper cover about 12" short of attaching to the Happy hooker? I have my hoist extended as far as it goes (1/2 ton setting). Is it standard procedure to remove the front bumper cover for removing the engine from the top? Thanks!

Unfortunately, some of the less expensive engine hoists don't have the boom length. I pulled mine from the top, without any problem. Hell, I think I could've pulled it if the engine was between the front seats...LOL I've heard of many pulling the bumper cover or going in from the side.

I pulled it from the front with the bumper cover and support taken off. It also made it a LOT easier to work on. The hardest part was finding a place to put the cover.
