reluctor ring ruined and timing cover chewed up READ THIS
when i had a guy from comp last year install my cc306 he didnt take the right steps when putting the car back together i have posted a lot of his mess ups in the past! anyways i bought a double roller timing chain from combination motorsports i think that was the place to use with the cc306 and during my new heads and cam swap i discovered small aluminum shavings in the oil pan from the chain rubbing the timing cover cause he didnt grind it enough and the reluctor ring was chewed to hell along with the key way!! my mechanic couldnt believe it was running ! so i will get a new ring and fix the timing cover ... anyone have this problem or anyone have a double roller ?? and what kind of adjustments did you have to make???

Bunch of metal shavings in oil pan. Anyone want to bet against me when I say that your motor will probably be trash when you get it going again. Only takes one shaving to take out a motor.

95 Timing cover i believe and you don't need to clearance anything but still should be double and triple checked. my buddy lost a motor to this minor step.. Otherwise just have them mill it down to get it where it need's to be...

The cover has to be clearenced to run a double row SBC chain. I don't know whats up with the wheel and the key though. If I remember right ya got to leave it out and get an earlier model hub which is longer to make up for the space.Otherwise it rubs the chain.

the hub shouldnt matter i thought of spacing the reluctor ring somehow from the chain and grinding the timing cover some more ??

If ya get a '94 balancer hub it is the right length after ya take out the wheel. Ya don't need the wheel anyway. It is only to record missfire.

Yours is shorter than a '94 because of the ring. A '94 doesn't have a ring so it is the right length to run without the wheel. Get one from the junk yard or from somebody who has replaced their balancer with an after market balancer.
