Relocating the MAF

I'm doing a custom CAI with 3" ABS tubing. Because of space restrictions I want to relocate the MAF a little farther away than normal. Between the current point and the point where the MAF will be there's no break in the tube or vacuum tube or anything.

I have two questions. First, will this throw the readings off at all? Second, if I splice together an extention for the MAF wires will that throw the readings off?

I don't think its position on the CAI will really make that much of a difference, since all it does is measure how much air passes through it. I'm not sure about splicing extension wires into the pigtail though, that might cause extra resistance in the wires and throw off the readings.

You can extend the MAF wires with no problems. I did...just make sure your splices are good I soldered mine.

It won't hurt to move the MAF around in the intake track. Heck, Vortech relocates it down in the driver side splash guard on the sucking side of the blower.

My MAF is under the front bumper, before the supercharger and I had to extend the wires, it works fine, although I'll be moving it to a "blow thru" style setup soon

It definately makes tuning easier, although the idle is a little tricky to get right.
