reinstalling throttle cable & cruise cable onto bracket help

hi guys,

I pulled off my throttle cable & cruise control cable, and I can't get the suckers back on. I was pretty careful removing them, and i don't see anything broken. I can slide the throttle cable all the way in towards the intake, but the cruise cable plastic bit (the piece that slides into the bracket), I just can't get it to fit right. Is there a trick that I'm missing? I saw that shbox had a pic of the cable removal procedure, which was what i used in removing the cables -- however, i can't tell exactly how they look going back on from the photos.

does anyone have any tips for me to get the cruise cable locked onto the accelerator bracket? It's driving me nuts!

For the most part, they just slide on and lock into place. Fairly straight forward. If you look at the cable vs the bracket, you will see where the little plastic nub on the cable locks into the slot on the bracket. Is the plastic nub broke?

Are you positive that you are not getting the positions mixed up?

i inserted the throttle cable first, just pushed it straight into the slot, towards the intake. There is a little gap on the side of the plastic connector, which looks like a tab should fit into. there's a similar tab on the cruise control end piece. however, when i pushed that tab into the throttle cable's slot, the cruise cable is barely in there -- i can nudge it out with very little force, it looks like its basically only being held in by the throttle body's tab.

there's one shbox picture that shows how the nub fits into the bracket, but the resolution/picture quality isnt the best -- i reinspected the cruise plastic end to make sure it wasn't damaged or broken, and it's not.

argh!

Sounds like the plastic nub is not engaging the bracket correctly. You need to go back and inspect that area carefully.

still messing around with this in broad daylight -- does anyone have a closeup of how their throttle cables are installed?
