Reinstalled opti, did a test run, car runs but not well?

Hello, I just put a new opti on my 94 trans am. Before putting anything back on I did a short test run to ensure the opti is working/I've got it aligned right. The car started no problems at all, and it idled ok but if I gave it a bit to much gas it would choke up on me.

I do *not* have the intake hooked back up. Would the lack of all the sensors on it (maf? I don't even know what's on it) cause the car to not run very well, not rev up freely? Or would it be something with the opti. I'm changing spark plugs while I'm doing this as well and I've got 6 plugs changed. (I thought the manifolds were bad enough, now with mid length headers it's near impossible.. on all plugs)

Nope everything was disconnected.

I'll try reconnecting all the intake stuff and see how it does. That's what I figured it was but I just wanted to be sure. Thanks!

Without the MAF on, it will throw a code and the SES light will be on. This is a
sign that the computer has gone into limp mode, which wont run good and will
take a few tries to start up. The MAF is required to run correctly.
