Red line

I was wanting to purchase a hypertech power programmer III, and I was wondering if anyone knew what a good elevated redline would be, without harming my engine. Also if anyone knew of a better chip programmer, that would be appreciated too. Thanks.

I dont know much about the hypertech power programmer, but it dont look like you have anything what would warrent such a need to do so. Like no cam w/stronger valve springs.

Well I was thinking about getting a 160 degree thermostat to go with it.

Yeah, even if you did bump it up to 6500, the stock lt1 valve train would never rev that high. Springs r too weak. You could just bump it to 6300 to get it out of the way.

So as long as I keep it below 6300, I'll be ok with a stock valve train

You would be ok with any choice. the rev limiter is only there so u dont break like a drive shaft under hard acceleration and over rev the motor. 6300 would prolly work fine. if u hit it or something, bump it up a little. you wont hurt the valve train, dont worry.
Oh yeah, the lt1 doesn't make power over 6 grand, so you shouldn't really be up there anyway.
