Rectangularish shaped exhaust

I went to daytona speedway this saturday and checked out the museum. Well they had a NASCAR car there and each body piece would get lifted. Pretty cool. Well when the rollcage went up u can see the exhaust setup. It was ofcourse typical round pipes at the headers and i guess u can call it a ypipe. Then as it went it turned into a more of a, i guess u can say, rectangularish, flattened oval shape. I know this is probably becuase they are so low to the ground and also for aerodynamic reasons. So why couldnt we use a setup like this for the fbody. I figure if its good enough for them, should be good for us. Seems like it would save lots of space. Anyone have any idea? Would it be hard to even make the pipe into that kind of shape?
Peace
Omar

They have oval exhaust and oval mufflers, there just expensive. Regular ol 3" or 4" rounds pipe is good enough for me.

Oval mufflers?? I didnt see any mufflers on it. Did u mean that they do sell oval mufflers. Well i figured if there was a setup it would be expensive. What i wanna know is it better or the same? I know there are people here that just buy all kinds of things but i havent seen anyone try a setup like this. I mean imagine the the more space you would have. Specially if ur going with a true dual setup.

Did they get good results from it. Was it worth the cash, for the space they save?

Are you talking about running ovalized tubing, or actual "boom tubes?"

Boom Tubes?? Have no idea what that is. All i know is the winston cup car had a cool lookin set up and wondered if the fbod could use to save space and whether someone has done it already.
