Recommended headers for a 93 Lt1?
Recommended headers for a 93 Lt1?
I have a 93 firehawk with a 3" catback and an aftermaket 3" Y pipe already installed (mates to stock manifolds). I live in Missouri and have to pass a visual inspection, so they need to be legal.
Which headers would you recommend for an N/A street/strip car?
I'm running stock heads and cam (although I'm looking into 1.6 rockers).

Since you have emissions, I would go with a set of shorties. That way you can keep your cats and they will be in the stock location. Mac's are really good for the price. www.fasttoys.net sells them.
Oh yeah, get some pictures up of your hawk!

I'm pretty sure it was added later on, he also did 98+ tailights.
(I just got this last week, I'm still discovering the previous owner's mods)

As for your question, I would either go with the shorties or mids
I hear people talk about Hooker quite a bit.
I had pacesetters on my 95, I was not impressed with the quality.
I'm considering getting coated headers, I hate to spend that much time and money on a mod and not do it all the way.
Re: Recommended headers for a 93 Lt1?
I have a set of Edlebrock shorty headers that were on my 93 camaro for 1 season. They are stamped #25-9070 and have the smog tubes on them and oxy sensor bungs and they are jet-hot coated. They are 2 bolt flange which fit my car some I guess are 3 bolt but anyway they can be yours for $100.00 plus freight they have been in the basement long enough.Did I mention there in really good condition.

i live in PA which has visual and sniffer test
i got hooker super comp long tubes and had a slip fit cat welded in the pipe after the Y-pipe.. I passed. It wasnt easy to pass the sniffer but visually i passed

Re: Recommended headers for a 93 Lt1?
I have a set of LPE stainless shorties mated to a Random Tech Y-pipe with a gutted Cat (and one with a functional cat for when it was in MD)...I dunno who made them for LPE back in 1995 when they were installed, but they flowed enough to go 11.50s and be emissions legal...I guess it depends on how the state you live in interprets the law. Technically, the cat(s) must be in the stock location which makes LTs illegal, but some places just want to see the cat somewhere and don't check/ask if its been gutted...We have a visual only emissions inspection in my part of PA...
