Recommended break in after rebuild?

Getting my car back in a week and was just wondering what the break in period / oil change schedule should be after a rebuild. Here is what got done:

Bored and honed out cylinders
new forged pistons and rods
polished crank
new rings, bearings, etc

Thanks guys.

Change first oil after 250 miles. Some go to 500 miles though. Don't use synthetic for the first 3000 miles. Don't rev it high for the first 500 miles and vary RPMs somewhat. Like, don't go for a long road trip and maintain the same speed for break-in.

Can and should be recommended to anyone, that wants the most seal from any ring/wall combination. Don't be afraid to rev it, and make the first oil change at 25-50 miles.

Re: Recommended break in after rebuild?

Really? So i should just not baby it, drive it normally.... And say, rev it high getting on the highway like i usually do? I basically drive the car decently hard (thats why it needs a rebuild at 83K) , so i guess i should just drive it normal?? Are you guys sure??? I mean, i read that whole websight, but, i was taught a long time ago to not always believe what you read.... Any more imput?

Re: Recommended break in after rebuild?

I just had my LT1 done 355 with cc306. I changed oil after 30 min of idling and 5 miles of driving. Then I babied it for 350 miles and the first time I hit 6k rpm I spun what sounds like two front rod bearings . My luck. So I have to get block back to machinist to figure out why it spun. But my theory from now on is run it like I stole it. If I had done this I would have found out sooner that I had a bearing problem.

break in period!my engine builder said,"break in the engine the way you plan on driving it"so i fired it up(496'' BB chevy)drove it around a bit to show off changed the oil, drove to the track the next day clicked off 10.80s all day, this motor ran the same for the 3 years i had it fastest pass was 10.23 @134 all motor.he also told me if anything goes wrong with the 496 he will repair it free as long as i didnt overheat it,neglected oil changes, revved past 7200rpm,its all in the parts, machine work and assembly.....................
