My header to y-pipe gaskets are leaking and I would like to get some better gaskets. Let me know what you've had good luck with and where you bought them from.

Copper will leak like a siv. Atleast that has been my experience.

 

Someone recommended copper ones before, that's why I mentioned it. I also thought they would leak in that spot. Any other suggestions? Go with paper again?

 

I've had good luck with Percy's dead soft aluminum gaskets from Summit.

 

I'm using summit aluminum gaskets on both my cars, reused them several times never leaked.

 

I went thru two sets of aluminum collector gaskets and they practically flowed out of the flanges where the bolts were not keeping them in place.
I switched to copper gaskets about 1 1/2 years ago and they seal perfectly.

 

I have those and would say they work good. Had to pull them out the other day to replace header gaskets and noticed the collector gaskets were sealed perfectly. Now the Percy dead soft aluminum header gaskets didnt work out so great.

 

Yep, that's what I'm gonna do today. I'll be retightening them for the 2nd or 3rd time now. (Percy's header)

 

We tried aluminum ones too...worthless. IMHO, your best bet is to get the regular Fel-pro paper ones and buy some better fastening hardware. A buddy of mine was told by an exhaust shop that the secret is to NOT use hardened bolts, just get regular ones and some "crush nuts". The bolt needs to stretch slightly and the crush nut will keep it locked there. He was replacing gaskets frequently and it's worked great for him since.
