Reminds me of when I dropped a 429 into my Ford Ranger... ran 7.9 @ 94 spinning tires all day and never saw a lick of traction... till i put some slicks on it and then i snapped the rear... GL but I think u should invest more in suspension then in motor... the L is a good example of that... first 3 mods to a lightning should all be suspension

What do you guys think i should do to the suspension to help me out with traction? I already said i will be doing a 4 link with a posi. I know this wont cure ALL traction problems but will cure most. This truck at MOST will have drag radials on it. Most of the time i will be running 235/55/16 tires as i am now. Probably be upgrading to 255/50/16 tires when i need new shoes. I will probably upgrade to 17s later down the road. Anyways what do you guys suggest?

Christ, I thought my S10 with a 406 was horrible at stopping. I don't even want to think what your braking was like with a big block in one of those little trucks. I remember I adjusted the rear drums one day so they were good n tight. As soon as I hit the brakes the truck just turned itself completely 180. Good thing there was noone else on the road.

I have a 99 Sonoma and it doesn't have any traction problems. The stock P.O.S. motor is like having traction control. LOL

There's a company on the web that has a book on doing all the different conversions including the LT1 into the S10. I don't remember who it was, try searching google or yahoo.

Yea i am also a pretty avid poster over on s-seriesforum.com also. They have helped me out a great deal when it comes to anything like this. Im thinking a posi and a 4 link with some big meats out back will do justtice.

drag shocks, sub-frame connectors, and traction bars would also be a wise investment
