Rebuilding a waterpump

Last weekend I had to change my waterpump in a hurry and my only option at the time was a new one so now I have the old pump. The bearing is shot but with it and a new seal, I don't see why the thing isn't rebuildable. Anybody ever do this? and are the parts available from GM?
Mine only lasted 72K mi. so the thought of a spare isn't an idle thought.

I've never seen any rebuild parts available (though, there has to be some available for the rebuilders to do it ). GM does not sell any.

Re: Rebuilding a waterpump

for the time and effort you can just go buy a reman pump that is all good to go. I cannot see it being worth the time to take it down, sand blast it and install the new parts for the cost that you can buy a reman.
