I'm so glad I finally found some people who are also rebuilding their transmissions... Mine is completely locked up, so I think I'm a little different position than most of you, but maybe you can help.
First of all, is the $500 most of you seem to have paid for parts for everything (minus gears) or is it just bits and pieces. I don't yet know what I'm going to need, but I would like to have an idea of what I'm going to have to spend before I get stuck in a project I can't afford to finish.
If this means anything to you, here's what I've noticed with my trani... Any ideas you have would be great!
1. Car will start and idle as long as clutch pedal is in... once the clutch is out, the car dies (no movement in the driveline)
2. The part that extends from the trani thru the clutch (don't know what this is called at the moment... sorry) doesn't spin...
3. Can row thru all the gears while car is on or off...
Like I said, any and all help you can give would be great! I don't even know what parts I'm going to need at this point! I never had problems with this before... it was almost instant (50 miles)after it sat in the cold and a bit of rain for about 6 months under the car because it needed a new clutch...
I've done all the work on my car so far myself, and I would like to continue to do so (under the supervision of an expert) but it sounds like you've all had the rebuild done... Is this because of time, difficulty, lack of experience, or just because it's a pain???

I'm not sure if you were talking to me or not about having a bad clutch, but if you were I guess I didn't explain myself too well. I just replaced the clutch last week. It drove fine for about 50 miles and then the trani locked up. I've already dropped the trani since then, but I'm a little lost as to where to go from here because I've never seen a car do this before. The clutch looks fine... nothing obviously wrong with it... The only thing I know for sure is that the trani won't spin... I don't know what that part is that comes out of the trani and goes thru the throwout bearing/disc/plate/etc... I know it's supposed to spin even by hand when the trani's out of the car, and mine won't budge... Any ideas???I hope that helps explain it better, and I'm sorry if I confused you!

mydroptopz,
hey, unless your tranny sat for a couple years and rusted up(unlikely) i think maybe something broke off and just jammed everything up. my suggestion is take it apart and look. replace everything that is broken or worn. i will be ordering soon as soon as i figure out what i need.
