i have a 96 lt1, lt4 hot cam 6 speed, and also a spun bearing.. time to rebuild! im going to be on this forum for a couple weeks needing help, i was just wondering if there's anything i should know about dropping the engine that would make things easier. just little tips/pointers. for anyone who has done this, what would you have done different? we will be dropping the engine out, not pulling.

plans for the camaro..

Re: rebuilding!!

Are you reusing the crank and rods? I would go with a light weight forged piston; I went with these http://www.probeindustries.com/Chevy...ns_p/12334.htm they are a lot lighter than stock and the ring size are thinner so they have less friction on the cylinder.

Re: rebuilding!!

This is a good guide for dropping the engine:

http://www.michiganspeed.com/enginepull/index.html

We used a atv jack under the K-member which gave us the ability to raise or lower the K-member and that turned out to come in handy. We put a furniture dolly under the transmission, left the front wheels on and just rolled the whole thing out from under the car. Wasn't bad at all.
