Rebuild or replace?

95 Z28, auto. Pretty much stock with 160k miles. My tranny is now a 2 speed auto so I'm wondering, should I have it rebuilt or should I buy a replacement? Would a TH400 or TH350 do alright? I am going to upgrade the motor and am considering a rebuild while I'm doing the tranny. I don't want to spend a ton of money but I do want to pep the car up a bit. I want to upgrade the heads, put on some headers, and maybe an intake manifold as well as rebuild the bottom end. I will also do some bolt ons such as an MSD ignition/coil, K&N cold air induction, etc.

Mainly I need to know what to do with the tranny for now as that is my first priority right now.

Re: Rebuild or replace?

If it is your daily driver a 350 or 400 conversion would hurt your gas millege but parts would be cheaper and stronger. Personally i woulnd't put a 3 speed in there till i had a daily driver
