Rebuild

I have a 93 Z28 with alot of miles and within about 3-4 months i hope to rebuild it now im going on about a 3000-4000 budget and i want to do cam and heads, lifters, etc.. now i still want this streetable and reliable to drive between florida and new york. suggestion on parts and where to get them from... like i want to get everything out of the way so i wont have to worry about going back and fixing stuff later. dont worry about bolt ons to support, they will be on already... suggestions please, i dont not know much about the lift and duration etc.. so any help would be appreciated

Re: Rebuild

Call up some of the supporting vendors on this site. I think the LE heads/cam packages are a pretty good deal. I recommend Combination Motorsports. It's going to cost more than you think at the machine shop. In that department, one usually gets what they pay for.

I had a hot cam/home ported heads and drove from Jacksonville to Seattle. Jacksonville to South Dakota and Seattle to South Dakota. That was a good reliable set up. Made 357 RWHP. There are reliable guys in Jax that can do great head work. I haven't talked to them in a long time, and don't know if they would do it for you. Ask around Jax if you see anyone one a F-body or if you are cool to the Mustang guys there, they are usually cool too, and could also give some good recommendations.

Re: Rebuild

summit racing has a pretty cheap rebuild kit for about $500 which is supposed to be pretty good.... just be sure to drop the engine yourself to save a lot of money on labor costs...

im about to do a rebuild, and heads/cam package very shortly too so any other suggestions would be nice...
