What does a stock shortblock rebuild cost for an LT1? The block thats in my car is cracked, I have a good block out of a caprice and a new set of heads to go with it.

 

In my neighborhood, a stock shortblock rebuild is about $850 and a long block (stock specs) is about $1800.

 

what are your plans with the motor?
Most people will tell you to bore it 30 over, around here its $14/hole
then you have to buy new pistons, and i would probably do all forged internals while youre in there

otherwise, for a factory spec. rebuild, 1000 doesnt seem unreasonable

 

I will more than likely go forged in case i decide to spray it. But other than that im gonna keep it stock.
