Rear-end noise; sounds like bad tire but isn't

I've had a "wah wah wah wah" noise coming from the right rear of my car which I thought was the tire. However, after rotating the tires (front-2-back) the noise is still coming from the right rear. The noise is sychronized exactly with wheel rotation so that's why I originally thought it was the tire and not something in the rear-end. Next I thought that maybe the wheel was hoping because of a worn rear shock, but after following with another vehicle that didn't appear to be the case either. I put the car up on jacks and let it idle in first gear to check for bent axles, but everything looked good. I even changed the rear-end oil (and added GM limited-slip additive) and the noise is still there. It's quite subtle but still very annoying. I dyno'd my car last weekend and I could slightly hear the noise when it was on the dyno (sure sounds like a tire though).

Tires are Eagle GSCs with 10k on them, they are not visibly worn. Maybe all of my tires do it and it's just that my right ear has better hearing...

Any ideas?

Thanks guys.

I had the same problem with my car...I had new tires installed and I started to hear the same noise..I did everything u have and nothing fixed it...turns out the my pinion bearing was on its way out. So I bought a new rear end..the noise was gone...i would suggest either A: get in there and install new bearings and gears(might as well do it while ur in there) or B: buy a rear end.

thanks

If you're gonna replace your bearings in the rear end, you can reuse the existing shims. If you change the gears too, you got to use new shims.
