Rear end girdle, magic?

I just bought some 4.10s and will install them in the next couple of weeks, but i want to add some strength to my 7.5". I have been searching online, yet i cannot find out exactly how a 'rear end girdle' works. What does it do? Even if it helps a little i will get it. I also plan on getting subframe connectors and although this wont affect it, i am getting a tower brace later. Any info would be appreciated
thanks,
Bill

It preloads the bearing caps and also adds strength to the housing. Other than that, it will increase the fluid capacity and it will also make it easier to change the fluid.

I'm talking about the TA girdle which I've used myself. The other ones like the AAM/SLP one I don't think do a whole lot.

And by preloading the bearings it is supporting them keeping everything in alignment better. A main point of an engineering education is that vibrations and deflections (misalignment) causes failures. I have the TA performance girdle.
