Question Rear end gear

I was changing the rear end oil and i looked on the pinion gear and thought i would see what gear was in there and the number on it was 12:41-GM i though it had a 342 gear in it. Does anyone know what gear size this is. I have a 1996 Z28 that had the T56 in it and i put in a 4L60E in it. Thanks in advance

You are thinking 1:3.42, which is commonly just called "3.42". It's sort of like a compression ratio. It could be called 10.5:1, but often people just call it "10.5".

That, plus all '94 6spds came with 3.42s.

41 ring gear teet, 12 pinion gear teeth. 41/12=3.41667=3.42
You have 3.42:1 gears.
