rear axle swap?

my g/f has a 98 camaro V-6 with the Y-87 package(posi, 3.42) I have a stock 2.73 gear now I know the breaks are bigger on her car and the posi works better than mine. I was wondering will this 3.42 hold up to the power as well as mine will and are all the control arm brackets the same? I'm running slicks with nitrous. thanks foer the info.

If her camaro is a V6 then it should have drum brakes, not disc like your car. As far as I know though the axles are the same, i never mess with v6's though. One thing to consider is if either car has traction control which will be a 4channel abs setup vs the standard 3channel. The stock 3.42s should handle the power as well as the 2.73, BUT you are still definitly pushing the envelope with slicks on a 10 bolt. You could buy a girdle for a lot less than a 12 bolt, but that will only help so much. Also, your girlfriends car is gonna be a dog with 2.73s.

let me know how much you want when you figure it out

wilsonsballs@yahoo.com

and to 94formulabz yes it does have rear discs that are 2inches bigger then a 93-97 there were certain V-6's that came with dual tips, 3.42 posi, and rear discs. its the Y-87 thanx for the info though.
