Really starting to regret the Nitto's
Frankly, right now they're the suckiest tires I've had the displeasure of driving on. They won't hook at the track for anything. I managed a spinning 1.97 yesterday at Atco, which is only the second time in about 50 runs that I've cut a sub 2.00 short time. Anyone else having this trouble?
Before anyone says I can't drive, I was very consistent LOW 1.9x shorts on Firehawk SZ50's.
I've tried varying the tire pressure, launch techniques, and burnout techniques, but just can't seem to get them to hook.
Anyone got any pointers?

when mine are hot, they hook up perfect...on the street when they are cold it is different. I can't do a 4 or 5 sec burn out to get them hot. I don't regret that I bought them, but for the money I think they are worth it. However, I may switch when these are gone...but I've had them for 6000 miles with still good tread on them.

Running them at 18psi on the stock suspension I couldn't hook.
I installed a set of Spohn LCAs and relocation brackets from www.sybersport.ca and helped quite a bit.
I'm switching to BFG DRs anyways.

I dont see how you couldnt hook if you have them warmed up. Are you using Nitto Drag Radials? Or a normal Nitto? In my statement above I am refering to DRs. Man alive over the summer those babies hooked like mad! Though I do have LCAs but no lca relocation braket.

They are street tires so you don't need to warm them up like slicks! Mine hook like crazy on the street but i haven't tried them at the track yet. I also have read that the BF DR hook better at the track and Nitto's on the street. This is the kicker though, for all of you with 17's the sidewall is too thin and i have found through many trials that the 245/50-16's hook better. Im 100% satisfied with mine. Later

They're the DR's, I know that much for sure. They hook strong on the street when I drive around. I can't break them loose on the street unless I do a pretty good dump from a standstill. But at the track they just suck for me.

Hmm, I've been able to cut 1.6's on mine. I think that your suspension has a TON to do with it though. Mine didn't work for sh*t until I got lift bars, different torque arm, custom wound springs, etc. Try a little money into suspension, that should help a lot. Before my suspension upgrades I was cutting 2.2's on them.

In my opinion 17" drag radials (275/40/17) are no better than a good street tire at the track which is lousy. They make a good street tire if you don't have too much power but they are a total WASTE of time and money at the track. If you want traction and streetability you can't beat a set of ET Streets. Just don't try to run them in the rain. LOL! Check out the irony: Drag radials make good street tires and ET streets make good drag tires.

What else has changed? Is the only fifference in the setup the change of tires? Are the sizes the same? Were there any other mods made? Has the track prep changed? Different traction compound? Different weather conditions? Different burnout procedure? Is this on "street night" and they are not treating the track?
Not to question too much, but a softer compound tire should hook beter if all other variables are the same.
