Realistic gains off headers

What kind of power gains is my friends auto 97 Z28 with Borla, no cats, CAI, and 3.73's going to see from hooker headers and an offroad y-pipe?

I have seen as much as 25 to 30 rear wheel horse.
15 to 20 is average.
Really a worthwhile mod.
And it better be with such a PITA install.

Hey Speed96 I'm in the same boat as you- it really didnt feel any faster when I got the LT's on there. I ran dual cats so maybe those are choking them but Ive seen others on the board with the same setup who claim otherwise, so who knows. Anyway I am going to the track this week so we will see how much they really helped, if any- of course I have also got 275's on there instead of 245's and relocated tubular LCA's so I wont be able to attribute any gains I *might* have to one particular thing.

Speed76demon I know how you feel. I joke all the time now that I have made my car undriveable.
Its loud, harsh, vibrates my teeth out, and my gas mileage is suckin. I have rear tires that are brand new and if Im lucky will last me 10k, I have no backseat and ABS and air bag lights glaring at me. Ground clearance sucks with my new front skinnies I just bought so I am running my old salad shooters/Potenza setup on the front again.
But damn it sure will get with the program when I push that gas pedal down.

I would recommend anyone to go with Longtubes. I put a set on my 1997 SS and it was a major SOTP mod. Power was gained all through out the band. I was stock at 272rwhp and 291 rwtq. After longtubes, offroad ypipe, ****ty PCM flash, and thru SLP 2OTL catback, I put down 292rwhp and 323rwtq. But my curve was way smoother and power was gained from start to finish.

Revtime Im where you are now I think it all starts when you are at high 11s broken clutches, stock rears, motor mounts, I guess thats when stock just cant take it anymore. Then again thoughIm on my stock rear and it hasnt made any noise....that's kinda weird considering IM stick too.

Not true. Long tubes increase hp/tq across the whole power band, all the dyno sheets I've seen support that, even my SOTP meter
