Real quick Oil Cooler question...

I just wanted to make sure i have this down. We are removing the stock oil cooler on my 1994 Trans Am while installing Hooker Longtubes.

1.) disconnect lines
2.) unbolt and remove old oil cooler
3.) remove stock bolts
4.) install new oil filter adapter (GM part # 3952301)
5.) install 2 new shorter bolts (GM part # 3951644)
6.) screw on new oil filter
7.) put new radiator hose from radiator to water pump (GM part # 10197675)

And that is it, correct? The only thing I am a little cloudy on is the oil filter adapter. Some say you need it, some say you don't? If anyone has any helpful info on that step (4) I would appreciate it.

Thanks

On my 94 T/A I didn't need an adapter.

Just an FYI update in case anyone does a search for this:

Extremely easy job!

1.) Drain hose running to bottom of water pump and hose going to the left hand side of Radiator.
2.) Take oil filter off
3.) Use 1 1/16th size socket to loosen the nut in the middle of the oil cooler
4.) PUll down on oil cooler and pull out going towards the rear of the car. This will pull the hoses out with the oil cooler.
5.) Unbolt the two screws in the adapter plate. Can't remember right off the size of those bolts. This will bring the adapter out also.
6.) Check on the bottom of the adapter for part number 3952301
7.) Use two of the new bolts (part number 3951644)
8.) Use a short piece of 5/8 radiator (heater) hose and place on the "hook ups" where the oil cooler connected (water pump/radiator) Also, be sure to put small clamps on both connections on the 5/8 hose.

That is it. Very easy and extremely clean under car.
