What break in? Just beat the **** out of it from the get-go.

Oil is up to you, synthetic would be best of course if it's in your budget.

yeah already stomped on it quite a bit. would quaker state be a good brand? conventional 5W-30 should work fine right?

I tend to stick to Mobil 1 or Valvoline. That's just some odd personal preference really, with no real scientific reason of doing so

For conventional I normally use Valvoline, for example, my trans is running standard Dexron III Valvoline. My engine runs nothing but Mobil 1. I'll be running 5W30, I'm just over 1500 miles on my new motor. I tried 10W30 but will bring it down to 5W30 as I have excellent oil pressure.

Yeah break in for me is getting the dino oil out of it after it's warmed up and everything checks out good. Break in is the best time to BEAT ON IT.

Damn right, and for you youngsters out there, the saying "BEAT ON IT" is as old as dirt. I should know.

QS is probably as good as any--was recommended in the 97SS when it came out. They recommend whatever they get the best deal on (my opinion).

If 10W 30 dino works for you, why not stay with it. I don't understand the logic behind using an expensive, light, synthetic, when you change your oil and filter on a regular basis.

You will get as many different opinions as there are people on this site---and in the universe for that matter.JMHO
