Ravin Exhaust?
Ravin Exhaust?
Ive been looking arround.. and my uncle has this abolsutely beatiful exhaust on his truck... its a Ravin Exhaust.. and i was wondering if anyone has one on there z28 camaro?
This is what I've heard about Ravin:
A friend of mine used to work at Midas, he told me that Flowmaster is owned by Midas, or something to that effect, and Ravin is pretty much Flowmaster w/a different name, but for cheaper. He has one on his 92 RS, and it sounds damn good, I'm sure it would sound even better on a 4th gen. Too bad he doesn't work there anymore, or I could get one for myself at cost :-)

i had a high flow cat, factory piping, and ravin muffler with chrome Z tips attached and it sounded NOTHING like flowmaster! Ravin has its own sound and trust me, its awesome. Not loud at all until you romp down on it. Excellent rumble at idle. Just not loud enough though.
It's ARVIN. Recently merged with Meritor so the company is of course, ArvinMeritor. They are the parent company of Flowmaster and the aftermarket division's Arvin Supreme Performance line. Flowmaster is completely separate from the other lines. Midas is a customer of Arvin and owns no part of Flowmaster or the company.

At this site, you can get part numbers for the F-body exhaust and information about them. I have flowed both a Flowmaster and a Vortex system back to back. The Flowmaster flows well, but the Vortex flows about the same as a straight pipe and it isn't too loud. Guess which one is on my truck right now.
Incidentally, the Arvin muffler will have a very low, mellow tone. They are packed, but the perf tubes are covered with steel mesh so blowout isn't as bad. Unfortunately, the F-body offerings are still regular steel instead of stainless.
ArvinMeritor is the largest OEM manufacturer of exhaust systems in the world. They made the OEM exhaust for the F-body, Mustang, 'Vette (throught C4), and a bunch of others.
