Rattling Problem...maybe severe??
Rattling Problem...maybe severe??
Hey there guys, it seems that whenever im posting here- it's either great news, or bad news. Well, today it's the latter.
I was driving home from college earlier today, when I started hearing this rattling noise (its been going on for a few days, and gradually getting worse) as I accelerate. It got to the point of where it was so loud, that I started to get worried- I could also feel the rattle strong in my gas peddle. Couple that with the fact that when I looked down at the guage, the engine started heating up past 180 (which it never does), that's when I started to get worried.
As I pulled off the interstate, I noticed that the oil pressure was dipping
, and the engine was steadily heating to ~ 195. The car barely made it into the gas station before it stalled out, where it would not start again
.
I did a quick diagnostic. I checked the oil-fine. Thinking (hoping) that it was a coolant problem, I checked that after it cooled down- filled. Not wanting to risk it anymore, i got it towed to my mechanic friend.
I'm hoping that it's a water pump problem or a loose wire, maybe something rubbing up against the manifold- but all logic points to engine problems (maybe water in oil
).
Anyone have any other explanations, to cheer up my crappy mood?
edit: I did notice that my headers were rubbing about 2.5 weeks ago, after I put in my new fuel pump. But could this possibly be an explanation, with the heating up, and not starting at all?
