rattling noise

I had a Transgo kit installed in my 93z28 and it burned the band and clutches. Should of had tranny rebuilt first! This is a 700r4, so it is on its last leg. I have a hipo one on order. But I have this annoying rattling under the console when you accelerate, mostly in 2nd and 3rd.It started doing this after the Transgo went in, went away, now its back. Putting on lcas this week, I was going to check tranny mount bolts(1le), torque converter cover, and possibly retorque pan bolts. any suggestions,(shifts OK, not like it should).Do you think anything can be loose in the pan. Just hold on a little longer 700r4! Tranny is one third paid off! thanks,Pickerman

Also check the flexplate. I've seen hairline cracks make annoying tapping/rattling sounds.

I've got a 700R4 spare... email ime if your interested.

Re: rattling noise

If the flexplate looks good without cracks, sometimes if you rotate the torque converter 180 degrees it works. Seen it, done it. Good luck.

Re: rattling noise

Rotating the balancer 180 degrees can often remedy a vibration. If something is vibrating then it is quite possible that the imbalance in the torque converter needs to be fixed. By rotating the balance 180 degrees (remove from trans input shaft and then reinstall, not just spin on the input shaft) tends to cure 7 of 10 balance/vibration issues. If it wasn't vibrating before the install, I'd do that first.

Besides, going through to rotate, you might find something else that could be the rattle. Again, it is difficult to know without diagnosing the vehicle. If it wasn't vibrating before the install, it will have to come apart.
