Randomly dies

hey! I don't drive my car much, its pretty much a sunday car. Yesterday it cranked a while before starting. It was pretty unusual for my car. I was driving it around for about 30 min, and it randomly died and the SES light came on. It fired right back up, than I started driving it again and died. I made it back to my shop and scanned it and it gave me codes 16,33, 36, and 42. I cleared the codes and than drove it again too see what would pop up again, and it ran great! never done it again. A couple weeks ago it died randomly and gave me code 36. Am I safe too say i need a good tune up, replace the opti, ignition coil, plugs, and wires?? I have no idea when the plugs and wires were changed last, I figured there about due. Can an opti just have random "Hiccups"?? Any opinoins? Also, where can I get an optispark wire harness?? I looked online and have not seen anything...

Several months ago i did a cam swap...

What were you thinking ?

Check the plugs going from the PCM to the opti for corrosion or poor contacts.

I find it hard to fathom you would do a cam swap and put OLD parts back on it.

Re: Randomly dies

I am the exact oposite. When I start something like just a cam, before its done I have replaced everything in the vicinity because I don't want to go back later. Maybe he paid somebody or just used the, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Actually none of it is hard to go back and do, so I should not give you a hard time.

Nahh its not hard too go back and due. If I had over $500 just laying around when i did my cam, I prolly would have replaced the opti, coil, plugs and wires when doing the cam. ohh well, it lasted 4 months lol. Where can I get the short opti harness?? How does code 42 tie into codes 16&33???
