Ran my 97 the other night.

I only got in 1 pass in, the place was packed (midnight drags) but the ET & MPH have me a bit puzzled, i would figure it would be faster with the mods, what do you guys think? Give me your feedback.

60ft. 2.307
1/8 9.436 @ 76.62
1/4 14.36 @ 98.04

I did much better on the 60ft this time, but even if i get it down to a 2.1, that would sqeek a 13.9 (maybe), it only gained about 1.5 MPH with the header & ory upgrade, & shows it gained .4 on the ET, but my last outing i netted a 2.599 60ft., so that explains the ET gain, this last outing i left at 2000 & 1/2 throttled to the 60ft. then let it rip, it hooked fairly good & stayed hooked through the gears, i'm planning on getting a tune, but is that really gonna help, i was sure it would hit the 13 sec. barrier with a 2.2, 2.3 60ft. @ over 100 mph. The car felt really strong, pulled to 5900 no problem, am i asking for too much?

97 Z28, 6sp, 3.42s, CAI, MAF, Airfoil, Magnaflow catback, PS LTs with ory, no cats, 255/40/17 Cooper Zions.

MPH seems quite low for those mods. What is the track elevation?

Thats why i'm concerned, the weak mph is dictating the weak et imo, i'm sure if it had 102-103 in it, its a solid 13 sec. car, even with a so-so 60ft. it also has a Ram clutch package, i'm not in 4th that long before i'm through the 1/4, so i wouldn't think the clutch is slipping, it sure don't feel like it, it does have 157K on it, but the engine feels very strong & the plugs are burning nice/clean.

Your mph should be 103ish.

How's your shifting? When are you shifting?

With similar mods, plus tuning and LT4 KM, I was hitting 102 mph at 600' elevation, 75 degrees.

In your mods list, you have MAF listed. Can you provide more detail?

Do you have the LT4 knock module? If you don't have a tune, that can help.

Its a Granittelli MAF (don't bark, it came on the car when i bought it), Ok, now i'm hearing more realistic MPHs here, what gives, some guys are clamming 105-106 & low 13s with the mods i have, IMO, i just can't justify that, but what do i know lol

I shifted at 5800-5900 & it pulled right to it, i've been on the horn with some tuners, some say the Hypertech has low MAX timing & i'm running rich, another said i'm most likely running lean, this i tend to believe that i'm running lean WOT, Don't really know how these Hypertechs program the timing & such, normally when you install headers & free flowing exhaust, you lean out, plus i have the Gran MAF thats also leaning things out. If i can fetch a 13.7 @ 102 (or there abouts) with street tires on say a 2.0-2.1 60ft., i'll be happy. I do not have the LT4 knock module, i was also told i should replace the old O2s with new ones.

I pulled 100.7mph misfiring 3 times down the track before my longtubes... basically just intake/flowmaster/free mods/and a short shifter on stock clutch.... so either your shifting is slow or something isnt quite right with your car... try getting a datalog and see what it's doing... and ditch the hypercrap get a real tune

the absolute best mod you can do is a spare pair of wheels with sticky tires on them for the track. That 60ft time is crap. I've done better on no-name 235/70R15s, but of course my car has more gear and a good converter.

There's a lot of variables with pulling a trip down the track though. Could partially be poor weather conditions (like real humid or warm), poor track conditions (not likely), that 60' time doesn't help, whether you stay in a groove or at least a VERY straight line the whole 1/4 mile, shift points, gear ratio, time between shifts etc, the list goes on.

My $.02, get some sticky tires, launch harder (find the sweet spot), and keep the steering wheel as straight as possible while shifting reliably quick - don't go missing shifts/gears etc.

BTW, if you know how to power shift though WELL, try that too, it could only improve your times. But I wouldn't try beginning that power shift at 58-5900 rpms w/your mods.

Power shifting seems like a great way to destroy a 10 bolt on that 1-2 power shift.

I do have a chance to get some "like new" 275/40/17 Nitto,s for a good price, along with some LCA relocation brackets, i might just do this & get the tune.

Same. I ran 13.9x-14.2 and trapped 99-102 with one shorty header. (don't ask)

I'm going to suggest lower control arms and torque arm sub 2.00 sixty footers are possible with street tires

sub frame connectors are nice too
a tune is going to help

Not necessarilly, I'd say that launch would do more damage, along w/the burnout than a 1-2 shift on a mostly stock car, IMO. I ran the car in my sig for quite a long time (about 4 years or so) on the stock 10-bolt, replacing very minimal things, prior to them actually breaking, with the exception of one stock driveshaft.
