Raising Rev Limiter

Is there any benifit to rasing the rev limiter on my pretty much stock car. I was think that i might bump it up to about 6,000 or 6100. My car only has 53,000 miles on it and dont want to hurt my motor but just a few hundred RPM's dont seem like it would be too hard on the motor. Thanks for any help.

With stock exhaust manifolds, raising the rev limiter probably won't make you any faster and with stock valve springs it's probably not a good idea anyway.

Yyea... rev limiters are there for a reason...

Look at Toyota and the early celicas... they had the limit too high straight from the factory...owners blowing their engines left and right

But I won't try to compare GM/Toyota,.... don't want to get banned...

The LT-1 really runs out of breath at 5,700 rpm, no need to raise the limit at all, you'd only slow down.

I have an a4 automatic. Mine usually shifts 5700-5800, although ocasionally it has gone to like 6000. I am thinking when I do my gears and pcmforless to bring it back down to 5700. I have heard of other stock peepes to take it that high.
