Radiator Hose
Radiator Hose
Is it alright that when my engine is cold the top radiator hose is collapsed? It's like there is a suction making it like that? I don't have any problems over heating and all the air is out of my system (that I know of) because when the engine is warm I open the bleeder and just a stream of coolant comes out. So my question is, do I have a problem with my hose like this? Also, my 'low coolant' light came on a few days ago so I added some mix to the overflow tank and didn't think twice about it since I wasn't having any problems. Today the light came on again, but still no problems. What would you suggest? Pull the sensor and clean it maybe? Before the weather cools down I plan of a complete system flush anyways.
Re: Radiator Hose
I would remove the radiator cap when the engine is cold and verify that the coolant is to the top of the radiator. If it's not, you need to add coolant and properly burp the system. If the level is too the top, it sounds like your coolant level sensor is dirty or faulty.
I don't recall ever seeing any of my radiator hoses collapsed.

Re: Radiator Hose
Well I just checked and sure enough I was a little low in the radiator. I added water for just for now, like I said I'll be doing a complete flush soon. Tomorrow, since I don't feel liek waking my neighbors I will bleed the system again. Hopefully that does it.
