Re: radiator flush

I think the best way is to take it to the dealer and have is hooked up to the machine. The pressure and detergents used are much better for the core. Of course, this cost a little $$$ so it's up to you. If you just run the hose through it, it's more of a drain and fill, not a true flush. That is still good, but not the best maintenance in my opinion. I have mine flushed by the dealer annually...my car is a 94 (I've owned it for 8 years) and I've had no trouble so far.

That's just my .02...but I hope it helped a little.

Re: radiator flush

I opened radiator drain, and the block drain plug (THAT SUCKED). I also removed thermostat and recapped water pump with it gone. Stuck the hose in the radiator... kinked it by hand so i could control the flow so it wasn't TOO MUCH... then just kept lookin under the car till it was totally clear draining out... then left it a little longer.

I wanna know... if the whole system cycles... and the thermostat is OUT so water can get through the pump... couldn't you leave the BLOCK plug IN? Cuz it is in a HORRIBLE position (dono if 93s are WORSE or not). It took like an hour to get BACK in cuz of the weird angle and the other bolt in the way. And we still only got it like 2/3 or 3/4 in. Won't go any further.. not leaking so far... praying it isn't crossthreaded.. but not gonna try removing it again ANY TIME SOON.

A good way to get that bolt off is to use 3 ratchet extensions, very easy and its not hard to get to then.
