Question Quick Tranny Question

I have noticed this since I got my car a year ago. Say I am driving and I am coming to a red light, I start slowing down, but then when the light turns green before I completely stop and I step on it again the trans kinda thunks down a gear. I would think it would gradually down shift and be in gear already. Its like it was supposed to downshift but didnt until I step on it. I hope this makes sense. If not just ask me for more info. I hope I dont need a rebuild as money is kinda tight.

Drive it like ya stole it.

check the tranny fluid... if its brownish/black you need a rebuild... it should be red

I checked my fluid already, its red. Doesnt smell burnt either. I am wondering if this is just normal and I need to get used to it. It only does this at low speeds, must be in the first 2 or 3 gears.
