Quick Timing Question.

I will be installing my timing chain tomorrow and I was curious since I have the GM847 which has 4 degrees advance ground into it where I need to set the cloyes timing chain. I have the option for 4 degrees retard, 4 degrees advance and 0. I was pretty sure to just set it to 0, but I wanted to make sure.

Thanks.

Re: Quick Timing Question.

Since you had 4* built into the cam, I would degree the cam just to make sure it is ground accurately. If it is, then install it at "zero". If not, you should advance/retard it accordingly.

Re: Quick Timing Question.

I am near positive that the GM847 has 4 degrees advance. If someone can verify this for me I would appreciate it.

Set it dot to dot.DO NOT adv or ret the cam with bushings keyway, ect. If you do you will move the timing and injector firing along with the cam. Not advisable. If you want to play with ICL get another cam... LT-1's ain't conventional SBC.
