Quick SES question

how long should it take for the SES light to turn off after the problem is fixed?

should it go off automatically, or will it take a while(and how long)

Depends. I have not researched every code, but some will turn off the SES and others may never do it. Reset the pcm by removing the PCM BATT fuse for about 15 seconds and that will clear most codes.

I heard something about 70 key cycles. Or do what he said, OR disconnect the neg battery cable for 15-20 min.

The number of drive cycles to clear a SES varies by code. Some can be two or three, others many more.

If you pull the fuse, you don't lose your radio presets. Easier than a battery cable, too.

If I pull the battery cable I lose the clock, but not the radio presets.

Some people get locked out of their radio, too and don't know the code.
