http://csce.uark.edu/~jgbertr/rb/temp_sensor1.jpg

see that hose right under the word "front" in green and white...that metal piece that my hose is connected too is covered in rust, now is this normal? his is shiney. any1 else's has rust on it, or should i have it looked at before it rusts thru and causes a leak of some sorts.

Those are stainless steel, so can't 'rust thru'... [and can't really be replaced readily since they 'press' in..]

It would take a while for it to rust thru. im restoring a 54 Chevy truck that has rust all over it and and has been sitting outside for many years, so i think you will be fine for a while. IMO
