Quick question to those with AFR heads....
Quick question to those with AFR heads....
I have a question about AFR heads I'm hoping one of you can answer for me.
I'm building up a 396 and have decided to switch over to a carb. The shortblock will bve finished this week and I'll be putting the top end together shortly after.
My options for an intake though, have been limited to GMPP's duel plane as it's the only intake that will bolt up to LT1/LT4 heads.
However, recently somebody told me that when you order AFR heads, you can ask for the bolt holes to be drilled in the heads to match the bolt holes on an aftermarket intake like a Edelbrock Victor Jr. I just wanted to know whether or not this is true. If it is, that really changes things as I'll then be able to make a lot more power with a Victor Jr. single plane.
The heads I'm looking at are AFR's 210cc LT4 heads. Can I ask AFR to have the LT4 heads converted to work with a single plane like the victor Jr?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Quick question to those with AFR heads....
Doesn't anybody know?
I've been trying to get in touch with AFR for 2 days now but never seem to get through. They havn't responded to my email either.
Somebody on this site must know

only thing we have determined is that the answer is No.
There is another thread where someone was ordering a set of 227's and was told he couldnt get the standard intake.
worst case, why not have the Vic Jr redrilled for the heads "if" afr wont set the head bolt pattern for the older style?

What confuses me is that AFR offers the 215CC LT4 heads with the standard intake bolt pattern but none of the other heads. Would it be that difficult to do the same with the 210's ? I don't see any reason why they couldn't sell the 210's (or the 195's 227's etc.) with the standard bolt pattern. It doesn't cost them anything to offer the other heads with that option so why not
I'm going to continue to call them until I manage to get through.
Re: Quick question to those with AFR heads....
The intake may not be the only holes that don't line up. When we installed a set of AFR's on my frined's 95 Z28, we had to ovalize the accessory bracket mounting holes as well as the Vortech blower upper bracket holes.
