Quick question...In middle of cam swap

Hey,
I have a and aftermarket crank pully that sits behind the original crank.
I used a puller to take of the original crank off, but the crank pully and hub didn't come off.
I noticed there is a bolt in the center of the hub.
Does this bolt need to come out before the hub can be removed or do I use the puller again to pry the crank off.

Thanks,

Everything else is going fine. I'm going back outside, I'll be back in about 20 min.

The bolt in the center must be removed and something very strong slipped in the hole for your puller to push against. Some people just loosen the bolt as they go and use that to push against, but you risk damaging the crank threads. Others have used a ¼" extension of suitable length or you can use a longer hardened bolt that is threaded all the way into and bottomed out in the crank. Just make sure you don't damage the crank threads.

Thanks Shoebox,

Your tech site helped tremendously.
I'm going to try and use the long bolt that came with my puller in conjuction with a 3 jaw puller that I will get next week. Hopefully that will get the hub off.

Take Care

FWIW I bought a couple of long bolts at the local Lowes, I believe they're 7/16 x 20 x 5". Anyways they bottom out in the crank so there is less stress on the threads. I then used a grinder to put an indentation on the head of the long bolt for the puller. Worked pretty good.
