Arrow Quick question about stock lt1 crank

Im working on a friends car. Im replacing the rear main seal, amung other things. When I took the old one out, it looked to have a groove in the crank. So I went and bought a speedy sleeve. But after using some scotch brite on the crank to clean it up, I now see that it looks more like a step than a groove. And maybe its just behind where the seal rides on the crank.

I need to know if there is a step on the crank, or if this is just worn. Im hoping its a step because I have no idea how Im gonna get this speedy sleeve on without ruining it. Ill post a pic of this step or groove in a little bit.

Is this a normal machined step in the crank, or a wear mark from the seal? I immediately thought it was a wear mark, but it feels like a step, and after cleaning it it sure looks like a step now too.

Damnit, they worked earlier. Webshots sucks.

It is a wear mark, but I found it impossible to install the wear sleeve. The old seal wasnt leaking, I just wanted to replace it while I was in there. So I did

Re: Quick question about stock lt1 crank

I don't recall any "step" on the rear main seal area on my crank. It was all one, flat surface.
