Quick question about changing coolent?

I have a 96 TA and i am switching over to DEX cool today I know I cannot mix green and orange coolent. What is the procedure to flush the system completely? undo drain plug on radiator and the block drain plug on the drivers side. is there a block drain plug on the passenger side? and then do i just put a garden hose in the radiator and fill it with water and drain it? is that correct?

Here is shoebox's guide under "How to's" Coolant Drain and Flush:

Why are you changing to dexcool may I ask?

Fine to drive with just water, I am right now. Just watch temp so you don't get boil over after you turn car off. May run a little hotter than usual though.

The Chiltons says to drain the radiator and the block, and then fill it all the way with water. Then run your engine until it reaches normal operating temp. then drain it and repeat 3-4 times until the water you drain is perfectly clear.

How about the use of flush kits ? The one's where you tap a garden hose in to a radiator line. Do you still require the usuage of opening the block drain plugs ?

Just make sure that you use distilled or purified water when you do the final fill up.

Not to sound like a cop out here, but I thought it would be something fun to do on my car too, change the coolant.

I will now take it to a shop to have it hooked up and flushed next time, and everything disposed of properly. The drain plug on the driver side of the block is a PAIN to get at.

Anyways, just a thought. I wouldn't mix the 2 different ones toegther but I'm just nit picky about some things
