Quick question about this Baer front brake kit for my '93

I own a '93 LT1 Formula Firebird. I'm interested in upgrading the front brakes. I'm running my car with MT/ET streets out back and a pair of 245/45ZR16 Bridgestone's on the front so I want to keep using the 16" wheels I have on my car now. One of our "supporting advertisors" is selling a Baer Brake kit for the 93-97 LT1's.

The part # is 3-1301037. It consists of " 2 piston 12" x 1.1 Rotors, complete with all hardware" for $674.99. My question is, will this kit fit inside the 16" wheels I'm currently running? All the other kits have 13" rotor's and Im pretty sure they are too big for my 16's so I'm hoping the 12"x1.1" will.

Again, the part # is 52-1301037

Anyone have any experience with these rotors/calipers ? Any additional help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

P.s, Do you think they'll ever have a Group Purchase on these?

Yes it will fit. I had that kit on mine with stock wheels.
I got mine on a GP from TByrne.

Thanks for the response. I appreciate it. I checked out your car (very nice car by the way) and noticed that you're running 17" ZR1 style wheels. I know you said you had the Baer kit on the "stock" wheels but I'd just like to be 100% sure. Were your "stock" wheels the smaller 16" size like mine? Or were they 17's ? Did they come with brake pads or is that extra? Also, do you think they're worth the $$ ? Was there a big difference in braking?

I still had the stock 16" wheels on when I installed the Baer kit. They come complete with brake pads and braided steel brake lines. It does make a big improvement in braking power, better than LS1 brakes IMO. I think they're worth the money, especially if you install them yourself.

Awesome. Thanks a lot man. I'm gonna have to put in an order for them tomorrow.

Probably from TByrne, since they appear to have the best price.

Cool! You'll like the difference good brakes make.
You should be aware that the stock space saver spare won't fit those brakes, you need a spare from a 98 or later f body.

That's okay. I left the spare at the dealership before I drove the car off the lot I would rather call a tow-truck than been seen driving around with that skinnyy little bicycle tire on my car.

Did you also upgrade the back brakes as well? I know the front brakes are what do 90% of the braking but I think I might also upgrade the back as well. If, for no other reason, other than to match the front

I did get a matching set of Baer rotors because I didn't want it to look dumb when I put on my 17s, and I bought a set of Earl's braided lines for 98+ and installed them on the rear (sold the fronts to a guy for his LS1 front brake upgrade). Not sure if you can call much of an that an upgrade, I did it mainly for looks and brake pedal feel (braided lines do make a difference). But with the stock wheels you can't see enough of the brakes to worry about it.
