Quick lt4 valve spring question

is it necessary to change seats, locks, and retainers when swapping to lt4 rockers and valvetrain w/ stock cam?

The LT1 and LT4 valve spring retainers, locks and seats are "exactly" the same. You may want to replace the valve stem seals while you have the springs off, if your engine has some miles on it. The GM performance seals work great.

Simple... basically just push them in. Not a hard thing to do. Getting the old ones out sucks though.

ajlew9428, did you buy the Springs/Rockers yet?

Does the Stock LT1 Valve covers need to be modified to fit GMPP LT4 1.6 Rockers?

Ive got the springs rockers, but havent installed them yet. Ive read that w/ the gmpp lt4 rockers, and crane gold lt4 rockers you have to modify the stock lt1 valve covers, but they said it is pretty simple, and only takes like 10 minutes.

Not bad at all changing out the seals...if your there anyway why not. I used a pair of pliers to grab ahold and pull out the old seals and used an valve seal installation tool to put the new ones in. As with most things, take your time and don't rush things. I'm not positive but I think you will have to modify your valve covers, I didn't have to because I switched to LT4 valve covers.

No need to modify the valve covers with the Crane gold RR's. Comp Cams Pro Magnums need the valve covers clearanced.

Here is a Quote from a Mechanic concerning my motor with 143K on it.
We wouldn't suggest the 1.6 rockers on a motor with that many miles because the valves and guides are worn a certain amount from the lift of the cam and by increasing that now you can cause it to leak oil past the guide.
