Question Quick intake removal question(all bolts are out)

Anyone have any quick tips to removing the intake without damaging anything? Everything is disconnected and all the bolts are out. A firm tug hasn't netted me any luck. I'm thinking a screwdriver may not be a good idea. Any suggestions???

You're going to need a screwdriver and pry against something. It's not just going to pull off. PRying it should just break the RTV/gasket seals and then you should be able to lift it right off.

We pryed the hell out of my friends intake manifold only to find we left a bolt in . Make sure you have 12 of them and then it isn't anything a man can't pull off. Just stand in the car (not joking) and pull up on throttle body. Good luck!!

Slash, I hadn't read your response when typing my last one. I may give that a shot first. Thanks for your reply as well.

Hey, Shankels, I took my 5'11" 210 lbs of manlyhood out to the car with an attitude and it netted me a ripped pair of shorts and a red face. No kidding. Then it dawned on me. I took a screwdriver and placed it between the valve cover and intake on the front driver's side and gently pushed down.........and... POP... it came up with little effort. I took a picture, I'll try and post it a little later so everyone else can see the "sweet spot." I'll post some pics of the newly powder-coated intake and custom fuel rail as well.

I was standing in the engine bay (radiators and stuff out) and I gave it a few tugs, nothing, then I just got really mad and pulled up as hard as I could and I ended up banging my head on my hood . I got it off though!

Busted lip? That sucks. Ripping my shorts was bad enough. Here's a link to the new intake and fuel rail. If it works, you should see where the two 90 degree -6 AN fittings will go on the front. I'll post again once I have the whole thing completed. I'm still waiting on the FPR, fittings, line, and Y-block.

Here's one of just the fuel rails so you can see what we did.

Slo-ride,

how dirty was the inside of your intake?

what year and how many miles did you have?

just wondering about sludge and other build-up

All I did was take a wrench and put it between the thermostat housing and the TB and pryed it up in 3 seconds. I have taken it off about 25 times and thats the easiest way I have found.
