Quick Header Question

Before I purchas some pacesetter long tube headers im wondering if i should get the off road ones or the emissions ones. We dont test for emissions in michigan so would i want them with or without. Also why are there two different styles for the long tubes?

I'd say go with the non emissions headers then if they dont test for emissons. They make for a slightly easier install, because sometimes the emssions hookups would get in the way sliding the header in. You'll need to get some EGR blockoff plates as well. And also tune it out of your PCM.

What year is your car? If you have a 96-97, you will need to have the EGR and AIR codes disabled from your PCM to avoid an SES light if going with the race style headers. Any other years, as long as the AIR electrical circuit is intact, you shouldn't have any problems with an SES light. As for the EGR, it is a hit or miss. If it comes on, you will need tuning to have it removed. Also, you will need some EGR blockoff plates. If you decide to go with the emissions style headers, then you simply reconnect your AIR and EGR systems and you shouldn't have to worry about blockoff plates, tuning, and all that fun stuff.

HP gains? I don't think so...but if there were, it would be so slight it wouldn't even matter.

I have the off-road ones and I think they cleaned up the engine bay with the AIR pump gone and the little exhaust tube running to the back of the intake.

My vote is since you don't have emissions, buy some block off plates from eBay, copper RTV it like I did, and call it done.

My EGR didn't throw a code, but I guessed it might, so I bought a PCM and had it tuned a few weeks before my header install.

They look good!!

No gains whatsoever. However, with the AIR system being deleted, you can actually see your headers better in the engine bay.
